"Banana-Pineapple Kabobs" from Ted's Montana Grill, Lexington, KY
1 ea Whole vanilla bean 1/3 c Brown sugar 1/4 c Water 1 ts Margarine, optional 1 pn Salt, optional 4 ea Bananas 1/2 sm Pineapple Slit vanilla bean lengthwise & scrape out sticky black seeds. Place seeds & pod in small heavy bottomed pot along with remaining ingredients except fruit. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly. Reduce heat & simmer for 2 to 3 minutes. Stir till sugar has dissolved. Remove from heat. If glaze hardens, reheat before using. Prepare grill. Peel bananas; peel & core pineapple. Cut into bite sized pieces. Alternate bananas & pineapple on skewers. Place skewers on hot grill & cook 5 to 10 minutes, turning once. When hot, baste with glaze, two or three times. Turn & baste again. DESCRIPTION: I went to this place with my parents. My mother was a bit hesitant to order anything bison, but My dad and I both had the tenderloin. It arrived as ordered, with an excellent portion of potatoes and vegetables, all perfectly cooked. The meat was quite salty, as I suspect, bison can be a bit bland. My mom's order was for something they were out of, and due to a miscommunication issue, my dad's and my food came out minutes after she ordered her replacement. However, they did make an effort to satisfy our concern. Overall, I was quite happy with the food, the atmosphere, and I especially like the little glass bottles of coke. We were there fairly early at the shift change time, but I feel the service lacked a bit.

Worth A Try
DESCRIPTION: This is not a restaurant that is going to appeal to everyone- order the Steelhead, or the bison tenderloin. The steelhead is very good and not a common menu item in Lexington. The Bison is a lower fat content red-meat, tender and flavorful. Don't be afraid, it may as well be beef. Our server bombarded us with app, salad, entree all within minutes. That always sucks. Who wants to be rushed when you're dropping $60 on food! Although, all of the food was tastfully prepared. It was refreshing to dine in an innovative place with an alternative menu selection.

It's all good!
DESCRIPTION: The staff in this mostly stand up/carry out place are kind and quick. The coffee is extraordinarily good. Morning pastries are fresh; soups are fresh every day and outstanding; fresh sushi arrives daily at 11 AM. What could be better? Great food, reasonably priced, surrounded by books (there are a few high cafe tables and chairs in a lovely atrium).
